Practice Tips

Note - Reading Practice!!

1. Go to www.musictheory.net

2. Click on "Exercises" tab

3. Click on "Note Identification"

4. Click on the Customize icon in the upper right corner.  
    It looks like this:
 



 
 

5. Set the correct clef for your instrument.  Treble for Violins, Alto for Violas, and Bass for Cellos-Basses.

6. Set the range for your instrument - Open D to High D. If you're not sure where these notes are, reference the pictures of the finished settings below.

7. Set the key signature for 2 sharps -- D major


8. Turn off "accidentals"

9. Final settings should look like these:

10. You are now ready to begin! Each session should result in 80% or more correct answers.  Have fun!!
